《The Woodwork Book》（木工书）是英国出版的木工综合读物，1980 年由 Pan Books 初版，本版为 1988 年 Treasure Press 版。全书由 Piers Dudgeon 主编，John Makepeace 作序并任主要编辑顾问，摄影为 Rod Shone；十一位活跃于国际木工界的匠人——Fred Baier、Richard La Trobe Bateman、Norman Beverton、Ashley Cartwright、Wendell Castle、John Hardy、James Krenov、Sam Maloof、Richard Raffan、Howard Raybould 与 Bob Stocksdale——贡献了书中的家具设计与制作经验。

全书按”木材—作品图纸—工具与技术”三部分组织。第一部分讲木材本身：自己动手做木工的意义、树木与木材结构、伐木与制材、干燥与胀缩、木材缺陷的认识与利用、人造板材、选购木材之道，并附欧洲、美洲、亚洲、非洲、大洋洲的硬木与软木材性表。第二部分是三十件家具作品的完整图纸，按工房、门厅、起居室、厨房、餐厅、书房、卧室、花园等场景分类，由各位匠人分别担纲，每件作品按技术难度标注一至四颗星。第三部分讲工具与技法，从锯、凿、车削、刨等手工具，到敲击工具、钻、电动工具、接合与涂装贴面，是制作前述作品的技术后盾。

Makepeace 在序言中说明，本书不止于传授技术信息，也呼应了他在 Parnham House 木工学校的办学主张：手艺须与审美感受、设计修养相结合，只重手法而缺乏美感敏感是木工界常见的欠缺；书中一切按家具实际制作的过程写就，并收录 George Nakashima、Bruce Hoadley 等关于木材与创作的精辟之言。全书含平面图、立面图、分步图与全彩照片，所载图纸可以照做，也鼓励读者依自身条件调整改进。
