《简明木工》（Woodworking Simplified: Foolproof Carpentry Projects for Beginners）是”周末项目书系”（A Weekend Project Book）中的一册，由 David Stiles 与 Jeanie Stiles 夫妇合著、David Stiles 绘图，1996年由美国佛蒙特州谢尔本（Shelburne, Vermont）的 Chapters Publishing Ltd. 出版，同年为第一版，ISBN 1-881527-98-0。全书在加拿大印制，摄影为 Skip Hine，装帧设计为 Eugenie Seidenberg Delaney。

作者在前言里回顾了木工生涯的起点：少年时弄坏楼梯栏杆柱后，看着当海军军官的父亲把一块废木料卡上车床，车出一根与原件毫无二致的新曲线栏杆柱——从此种下了终身热爱木工的种子。因为是自学，他的早期作品有的粗糙、有的彻底失败，也有的成了宝贵的学习经验。此后二十多年里，夫妇俩用1500美元买下一座原为谷仓的住宅，全部亲手翻修，家具、橱柜、桌子、搁板、窗座乃至石砌壁炉都出自自己之手。

与大多数木工书不同，本书专为初学者挑选了所需工具最少、通常一天之内即可完成的项目，并且写得”防错”（foolproof）：先从木性、安全、设计与规划讲起，再用最基础的工具与木工技能打底，随后进入锯马、锯导器、钉盒、工具箱等练手项目，一路进阶到鸟屋、花槽、边几、工作台，直至斯堪的纳维亚单人床与可移动高架床。每个项目都配有作者的施工图（含侧视图、剖视图等）和分步骤说明，帮助读者避开常见错误、一次做对。
